Despite her only having a couple years experience in the pro wrestling business, it wasn’t surprising when the rumor mill said Kendal Grey would soon be moving full-time from WWE’s newest developmental brand, Evolve, to NXT, which is the last stop before the main roster. In addition to being only the second person to hold the Evolve Women’s championship, Grey’s already defended that on NXT television from New York City, and wrestled on a premium live event, winning last year’s Iron Survivor Challenge at Deadline — and the NXT Women’s title shot that comes with it.
The 24-year-old amateur wrestling standout didn’t win that belt, but her promotion is now official… and without her having to drop the Evolve title. Grey beat Olympic gold medalist Tyra Mae Steel on the episode of Evolve that premiered on Tubi tonight (March 11), then vacated the title before leaving to taking “take over NXT every Tuesday”:
Yes, that’s new Evolve General Manager Timothy Thatcher she handed it to. It was an eventful episode… so keep your eyes on The Feed for starvenger’s next Evolve Recap & Reactions post there!
While we await that, are you impressed with Kendal Grey’s rapid rise from early ID NIL program signing to the NXT roster? What do you think of her prospects at the next level of WWE developmental? Should she have put somebody over on her way out of the entry-level show?
