BFFs Wednesday (Jenna Ortega) and Enid (Emma Myers) may be polar opposites in temperament and color preferences but have one thing in common — they both seem to be unlucky in love. For a second season in a row, a series regular Nevermore student character introduced as a romantic interest for one of the roommates is gone after one year on the show.
Following the departure after Season 1 of Percy Hynes White, who played Wednesday’s paramour Xavier Thorpe, leaving ahead of Season 3 is Season 2 cast addition Noah B. Taylor as Bruno Yuson.
The move is not entirely surprising as Bruno’s budding romance with fellow werewolf Enid ended abruptly after she (with Wednesday’s help) discovered his lingering relationship with his ex-girlfriend. Bruno was last seen packing his things and leaving Nevermore with said ex.
Also not surprising given the events in the Season 2 finale, Wednesday’s maternal grandmother Granmama Hester Frump will expand her presence in Season 3, with Joanna Lumley, who portrays her, promoted to a series regular. Introduced in Season 2, the wealthy mortuary mogul, who has a frosty relationship with her daughter Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones), was last seen in the final seconds of the finale walking to the basement of her mansion where, locked in a cell, was her other daughter Ophelia. Long missing, Ophelia, who was once committed by Hester to Willow Hill Psychiatric Hospital, will be a major character in Season 3, played by new series regular Eva Green.
Absolutely Fabulous alumna Lumley joins the Season 3 returning series regular cast led by Ortega as Wednesday Addams, which also includes Myers (Enid Sinclair), Hunter Doohan (Tyler Galpin), Joy Sunday (Bianca Barclay), standout Season 2 addition Evie Templeton (Agnes DeMille), Luis Guzmán (Gomez Addams), Catherine Zeta-Jones (Morticia Addams), Moosa Mostafa (Eugene Ottinger), Georgie Farmer (Ajax Petropolus), Isaac Ordonez (Pugsley Addams), Billie Piper (Isadora Capri), Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo (Sheriff Ritchie Santiago), Victor Dorobantu (Thing). Fred Armisen will continue to recur as Uncle Fester.
Winona Ryder is joining Season 3 as a recurring guest star, reuniting with frequent collaborator Burton as well as her Beetlejuice Beetlejuice co-star Ortega and the film’s writers Al Gough and Miles Millar.
Gough and Millar are Wednesday‘s creators, writers, showrunners and executive producers; Burton directs and executive produces; MGM Television is the studio.
