Taylor Frankie Paul Might Face Charges As 3rd Domestic Violence Incident Emerges

Another domestic violence incident involving Taylor Frankie Paul could now find The Bachelorette star facing charges for violating her probation over a 2023 event.

Police in the Salt Lake City suburb of West Jordan are looking into allegations that Paul’s on-again, off-again partner Dakota Mortensen brought against her for a 2024 incident. The WJPD would not provide any more details other to confirm there is an investigation underway and they are “looking over” video footage of what may have gone down between The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star and her ex.

“Late last week, we requested all the investigative material to screen the most recent allegations for charges,” Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill’s office told Deadline today. “We made the request because of the potential that if charges are filed, they could be enhanced due to a prior plea in abeyance to a domestic violence offense,” the prosecutor, who is seeking reelection, added.

The DA’s office would not say more about where their probe is at or where it may be going.

In Utah, violation of probation for aggravated assault can see the probation revoked and an up to five-year prison sentence for a third-degree felony. Depending on circumstances, especially in the case of multiple violations, a judge could add more time behind bars, restrictions on the individual, more probation conditions and cash fines.

Paul’s reps pointed to her previous statement and did not add anything today to Deadline’s request for comment on the latest twists in this reality TV fiasco. On March 19, as the Bachelorette situation blew up, Paul’s team said: “After years of silently suffering extensive mental and physical abuse as well as threats of retaliation, Taylor is finally gaining the strength to face her accuser and taking steps to ensure that she and her children are protected from any further harm.”

Having been in frequent contact with Child and Family Services and other agencies in the Beehive State, Mortensen went to West Jordan cops last month with the 2024 incident, Deadline has confirmed.

Disney is taking things one day at a time when it comes to all things Taylor Frankie Paul. The company would be on the hook for tens of millions of dollars if ABC‘s The Bachelorette never airs, either on the linear network or on streamer Hulu, and is also mulling the future of Hulu’s Mormon Wives, which paused production on Season 5 earlier this month. Disney didn’t add any comment to today’s latest legal troubles.

The 2023 fracas between Paul and Mortensen was captured on film and was featured on the opening episode of the first season of Mormon Wives. Paul entered a guilty plea on one count of aggravated assault for the 2023 brawl with Mortensen and was under ongoing probation.

ABC shelved The Bachelorette on March 19, only days ahead of its planned premiere on March 22, after a new video emerged showing Paul throwing metal stools at Mortensen and inadvertently hitting one of her children.

That February domestic violence incident is being probed by the Draper City Police.

NBC News was first to report the 2024 incident involving Paul and Mortensen.
