Growing crops and clearing mines is tiring work, so one Stardew Valley decided to hit the hay and sleep for 1,000 years, before awakening to find their farm in disarray.
Spotted by GamesRadar+, Reddit user Holozard shared an image proving that they had “slept for 1000 years straight” in-game. They did so by leaving their Switch running “for over 3 weeks straight (aside from the 9 times it crashed), just running right into bed and hitting rest.”
They also “used a controller with a turbo button to hit ‘A’ repeatedly, and a hair tie to walk right automatically,” meaning their character would jump straight back into bed every time they woke up, even if the OP wasn’t near their console.

After being in slumber for an entire millennium, as you’d probably expect, their farm wasn’t exactly in a great state when they finally stepped outside.
The entire place had become overgrown, with trees and weeds making it tough to even make out the farmhouse. There were also mushrooms that had grown to the size of small buildings, leaving behind a clean-up job that didn’t quite take another 1,000 years to complete, but did take a full three seasons.
Once they’d managed to chop down all of the trees, it was revealed that the farm was overrun with meteorites and owl statues, random events that are usually very rare in a regular playthrough.
Most important of all, the animals that call the farm home weren’t impressed with being left to fend for themselves.
In one image shared by the OP, a chicken by the name of Huffy looked “grumpy,” while another was looking “a little thin.” Thankfully, they left the coop door open before heading to bed, so they still had room to stretch their legs.
What exactly drove this player to pull off this feat isn’t clear. Maybe it was sheer curiosity, or maybe it was just a way of killing time while they waited for the Haunted Chocolatier.
