Six Flags selling 7 parks, including 4 in Midwest, in $331M deal – NBC Chicago

Six Flags has agreed to sell seven of its theme parks, including four in the Midwest, the company announced Thursday.

North America’s largest regional theme park operator agreed to sell parks that over four million people visit annually in exchange for a payout of $331 million from a company called EPR Properties.

“This strategic acquisition represents a compelling opportunity to expand our attractions portfolio with high-quality experiential real estate assets in established regional markets,” said Gregory K. Silvers, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of EPR Properties.

The seven parks up for sale span six U.S. cities and Canada, with more than 400 attractions between them.

Lucky for Chicago-area rollercoaster fans, Six Flags Great America in Gurnee is not one of the parks being sold.

Here’s a look at the parks included in the sale:

• Worlds of Fun – Amusement & Waterpark – Kansas City, Missouri
• Valleyfair – Amusement & Waterpark – Minneapolis, Minnesota
• Six Flags St. Louis – Amusement & Waterpark – St. Louis, Missouri
• Schlitterbahn Waterpark Galveston – Waterpark – Galveston, Texas
• Michigan’s Adventure – Amusement & Waterpark – Grand Rapids, Michigan
• Six Flags Great Escape – Amusement & Waterpark – Queensbury, New York
• Six Flags La Ronde – Amusement Park – Montreal, Quebec

The parks will continue their regular operating schedules and all season passes will be recognized through the 2026 operating season, Six Flags said in a release.

Once sold, the six parks in the U.S. will be leased and operated by Enchanted Parks and the park in Canada will be leased to and operated by La Ronde Operations, Inc., the company said.
