Pokémon Wind and Waves, the 10th generation of mainline Pokémon games, have just been revealed during today’s 30th anniversary celebratory event. It’s set to release in 2027 simultaneously.
The reveal, a gameplay trailer introducing us to a variety of Pokémon new and old, takes us through various locations in game, including a volcano, beaches, and sapphire blue oceans.
In terms of setting, Winds and Waves appears to be based in a locale inspired by South East Asia. We also got a quick look at what appear to be the three new starters: Grass-type Browt, Fire-type Pombon, and Water-type Gecqua.
Perhaps the biggest stinger of the trailer is that the 10th generation of Pokémon will be missing a 2026 release. At the tail end of the trailer, both logos for Winds and Waves were shown, alongside the line: “global simultaneous release in 2027”. It’ll also be released on the Nintendo Switch 2. This is notable as the Winds and Waves trailer did not feature a Nintendo Switch 1 logo, indicating it’ll release solely on Nintendo’s latest console.
