Photos show 30-cent gas price jump in one week at same Bakersfield station

Drivers in Bakersfield are seeing gas prices climb quickly, and photos taken a week apart at the same station highlight just how fast prices are rising.

Images taken at the Chevron on Oak Street show regular gasoline increasing from about $5.39 (credit/debit) per gallon last week to $5.69 (credit/debit) per gallon, a jump of roughly 30 cents in just seven days.

The increase comes as global oil markets react to the ongoing Iran conflict escalation, which has pushed crude oil prices higher and raised concerns about supply disruptions.

According to the AAA, the average price for a gallon of regular gas in Bakersfield is now $5.32, up sharply from $4.80 a week ago. Just a month ago, the average price in the city was $4.43 per gallon.

It’s unclear how long the price increases will continue with the conflict showing no signs of slowing.
