Syria accuses Hezbollah of shooting into its territory

Syrian army officials said Iran-backed Lebanesegroup Hezbollahhad fired shells into its territory, state news agency SANA reported.

According to the Syrian army, the Islamist Shiite movement targeted its positions. The army also said it had noticed Hezbollah reinforcements at the border between the two countries.

“The Syrian Arab Army will not tolerate any aggression targeting Syria,” it said in a statement.

This comes after Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa showed support for disarming Hezbollah, supporting the Lebanese government’s “serious and decisive” steps to ensure the protection of Lebanon from “the ongoing violence.”

Al-Sharaa also said the Syrian military had reinforced its presence along the borders with Iraq and Lebanon.

US President Donald Trump threatened Iran that it would be hit “twenty times harder” if Tehran stops the oil flow through the Strait of Hormuz.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said that such a move would lead to attacks which would make Iran “virtually impossible” to ever be built again.

“Death, fire and fury will reign upon them,” the US president posted, adding he hope this does not happen.

Iran’s Guards threaten region’s oil exports if war continues

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) said the country would not allow the export of “one litre of oil” from the Gulf region should the attacks by Israel and the US continue, state media reported.

According to the IRGC, it is up to them to “determine the end of the war,” while also labeling US President Donald Trump‘s earlier statement about Iran as “nonsense.”

This comes after Iran’s hardliners staged a series of rallies in show of support of new supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei.

Rallies in support of new supreme leader take place in Iran

State media in Iran reported that hundreds of thousands of people took part in organized rallies on Monday in support of the country’s new supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei.

Those in attendance pledged allegiances to the 56-year-old, who was appointed despite US President Donald Trump saying he will not accept the appointment, and despite the threats of strikes as part of the joint US-Israeli war in Iran.

The appointment comes nine days after Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in an Israeli strike.
