Newly anointed Disney CEO Josh D’Amaro made it official at the shareholders meeting: Lilo & Stitch 2 is coming out on May 26, 2028, Memorial Day weekend, and Pixar’s Incredibles 3 will hit theaters June 16, 2028. There isn’t any rival studio competition on either release date at this point in time.
Both dates were already reserved on the Comscore calendar by the studio with untitled holds.
Last Memorial Day weekend, the live-action take of Lilo & Stitch hit a holiday opening record with $182 million over four days, overtaking 2023’s Top Gun: Maverick ($160.5M). The movie was the first to cross the billion-dollar mark in 2025 and one of the few billion-dollar pics from last year, minting $423.7M stateside and $614.2M overseas.
It was already out there around the time that Hoppers opened two weekends ago that Incredibles 3 was bound to leap in 2028. The previous two Incredibles movies minted $1.87 billion combined at the global box office. The first movie was released in 2004 and the second in 2018, becoming the seventh-highest-grossing animated movie of all time.
Incredibles franchise filmmaker Brad Bird is only writing and producing the threequel, not directing. Elemental filmmaker Peter Sohn is directing. Bird was asked to direct.
