Here are the latest updates from day 23 of the United States’ and Israel’s war against Iran and Hezbollah:
■ The IDF is investigating whether Ofer Moskovitz, who was killed Sunday in the northern kibbutz of Misgav Am, near the Lebanon border, was struck by IDF fire. Moskovitz, 60, was initially thought to have been killed when an anti-tank missile struck his vehicle.
■ The Israeli military struck the Qasmiyeh Bridge, a key coastal highway crossing the Litani River, Lebanese media reported. Lebanese President Michel Aoun condemned the attack, calling it “a dangerous escalation and a blatant violation of Lebanese sovereignty.”
■ Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said the IDF will demolish Lebanese homes in frontline villages along the border, “in line with the model we applied in Gaza’s Rafah and Beit Hanoun,” which have been largely flattened. Five people were killed and 46 people were injured in strikes on Lebanon, the Lebanese Health Ministry said.
■ Iran will completely shut the Strait of Hormuz if U.S. President Donald Trump follows up on his threat to target Iranian energy facilities, the country’s Revolutionary Guards said.
■ The United States will continue to strike Iranian fortifications along the Strait of Hormuz “until they’re completely demolished,” U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said in an interview with U.S. broadcaster NBC. “Sometimes you have to escalate to de-escalate,” he said.
■ U.S. President Donald Trump said President Isaac Herzog is “a weak person and a pathetic man” for not pardoning Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He made the remarks in an interview with Israel’s right-wing Channel 14 News.
■ An Israeli drone strike killed three people and wounded eight others in the Nuseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip, the Al-Awda Hospital said. The Israeli military said it killed a Palestinian man in Gaza who was planning a terror attack on Israeli territory.
■ Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich vowed to topple “the authority of evil and terror known as the Palestinian Authority.” Smotrich made the comments at the funeral of Yehuda Shmuel Sherman, an 18-year-old from the Israeli settlement of Elon Moreh who was killed on Saturday after a collision with a Palestinian vehicle.
■ Israeli settlers attacked and wounded 10 Palestinians in the village of Deir al-Khatib near Nablus, West Bank, the Palestinian Red Crescent said.
