As we reported on recently, Santa Monica Studio has another unannounced PS5 project in-development alongside its newly announced God of War Trilogy Remake.
This game has been spearheaded by veteran director Cory Barlog for several years, and is expected to “feel” like a new IP. The common consensus seems to suggest this will be an all-new God of War game set in a totally different mythology, like Ancient Egypt.
Here’s the really exciting bit, though: we could be playing it as early as 2027.
Two reliable rumourmongers, Shinobi602 and Nate the Hate, have alluded as much in various venues. It’s worth stressing as always that while these snoops are generally rock solid, they’re reporting on unannounced info here, which is always subject to change.
But writing on ResetEra, Shinobi602 responded to a comment regarding Barlog’s new game, in which the user said they expected it “around 2028”. He said: “Not that far, barring any delays of course.” That implies 2027 to us.
Meanwhile, writing on X (or Twitter), Nate the Hate said we’ll hear about the project before 2027. He further clarified: “Unless a major delay happens, the game will be out in 2027.”
So, assuming the timelines align, this could set up a Box Office year for PS5, with Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet also expected at some point next year too.
