GB206 GPU, 2560 Cores, GDDR7 & 130W TGP

NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 5050 9 GB graphics card specs have been revealed, revealing similar core specs & updated memory config.

NVIDIA Goes With Same Core Specs But Updated Memory Specs On Its Upcoming GeForce RTX 5050 9 GB Graphics Card

So last week, we reported that NVIDIA was preparing a new variant of the GeForce RTX 5050 graphics card with 9 GB of memory. The rumored variant was later reported to launch around Computex 2026, and it would be aimed at a similar entry-level price point.

Now, Kopite7kimi has revealed the exact GPU and Memory configuration used by the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5050 9 GB graphics card. As per the info, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5050 9 GB will utilize the PG152-SKU40 PCB and will house the GB206-150-Kx-A1 GPU. Now, the GPU of choice is interesting here as the original RTX 5050 (8 GB) model features the GB207 GPU.

The reason behind this might be the memory itself, as the existing RTX 5050 boards are designed with GDDR6 memory in mind, whereas the new GPU model uses GDDR7 memory, which starts at RTX 5060 and above graphics cards. So rather than making a brand new PCB, AIBs can just reuse PCBs from the RTX 5060 series to save costs.

In terms of the core specifications, the move to GB206 wouldn’t mean that the core count is changed. The card will retain the same 2560 CUDA cores as the RTX 5050 8 GB model. Currently, we don’t know the exact clock speeds, but they are expected to remain the same, given that the TGP is also the same at 130W.

Now for the memory, as mentioned before, the new NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5050 graphics card will pack 9 GB of GDDR7 VRAM. The graphics card will feature 96-bit memory compared to the 128-bit memory on the existing model.

The difference is that the existing model features 20 Gbps GDDR6 memory dies, which offer 320 GB/s of bandwidth, whereas the newer model will leverage 28 Gbps GDDR7 memory dies, which will provide 336 GB/s of memory bandwidth. This is a 5% improvement in bandwidth and 12.5% more VRAM versus the existing model.

We expect the card to be available at a price range similar to the RTX 5050 8 GB, around $249 US, but the actual pricing will only be decided when the card launches, owing to memory shortages.
