Crimson Desert Estimated to Have Already Reached $20M in Pre-Order Revenue With Nearly 400K Copies Sold on Steam Alone

Pearl Abyss’ long-awaited open-world adventure, Crimson Desert, will be out and available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S in just two days at the time of this writing, and analytics firm Alinea Analytics is pointing to its launch being about as big as the world of Pywell you get to explore in Crimson Desert.

In the firm’s latest newsletter, analyst Rhys Elliot reports that on Steam alone, Crimson Desert has already reached nearly 400K copies sold, generating an estimated $20 million in revenue just off pre-order sales on Steam.

What’s more is that for all of the concern over how Crimson Desert will perform on consoles and lower-end PCs, along with the last-minute inclusion of Denuvo, a whopping 10% of those sales happened within “a single 24-hour window yesterday,” according to the report, which shows you how much weight players gave those controversies even as they caused a stir online.

The report adds that it is already on track to have a better launch than both Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, though at least in the case of Clair Obscur, no one knew how much of a hit that would be until it arrived.

Ultimately, we’ll know just how well the launch goes for Crimson Desert in just a few days. If it doesn’t arrive with any major technical hiccups (especially on base PS5) and players overall have a smooth experience, then that’ll only generate even more positive word-of-mouth and it could potentially rise to the expectations that have been set for it, like it potentially being the other 2026 GOTY favorite outside of GTA VI.
