AMD Radeon RX 9000 Series Price Drops Even Further In Japan; RX 9070 XT Is Now Sitting At Lower Average Price Than December

The RDNA 4 series is witnessing more price drops these days, bringing the prices back to the pre-RAMpocalypse era.

Radeon RX 9070 XT Price Drops by Nearly 19% Month-Over-Month in Japan; Other AMD GPUs Also See Noticeable Price Reduction in Recent Weeks

Unlike the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 series, the demand for the RDNA 4 appears to be shrinking due to price hikes. Both series have been affected by the VRAM shortage, but when the AMD RX 9000 series became more expensive, the demand suddenly dropped. Prices began to increase in late November/Early December in most regions, peaking at the end of January. The prices increased by nearly 30-40% in some regions, but this quickly resulted in a noticeable drop in demand for the GPUs. The effect was clearly visible in the latest GPU market share data as well.

Japan saw a sudden drop in GPU sales due to the price hikes, and last month, we reported how gamers have started ditching the RX 9000 series, which forced AMD to sell them at a lower price. Once again, the price trends show that the decline is still in effect. However, some GPUs are now selling for almost the same price as in the pre-RAMpocalypse era. For instance, Gazlog reports that the Radeon RX 9070 XT has now dropped to November 2025 prices.

RX 9070 XT is the flagship RDNA 4 GPU that has the most demand in the market, which is why it quickly climbed up to nearly 140,000 Yen or US$876 in January. This was the average price for the GPU nearly two months ago, which is roughly 30-35% higher than what it was selling at in November 2025. The prices started falling in February, and the average price now sits at just 109,000 Yen or US$682. This is a nearly 22% price drop since January and nearly 19% month-over-month.

The lowest selling price is now under 100,000 Yen, which is even lower than what a Japanese retailer was selling last week in the Spring Sale. Similarly, both the Radeon RX 9070 and RX 9060 XT have been seeing noticeable price drops in recent weeks, and you can clearly see that the average prices for AMD GPUs have dropped sharply in just two months. On the other hand, the RTX 50 series cards didn’t see much relief, and the mid-range and budget cards saw a price rise instead.
