EXCLUSIVE: Ballard continues to expand its Season 2 cast, adding Hamish Linklater (Gen V, Midnight Mass) in a major recurring role.
Inspired by the work of bestselling author Michael Connelly, Prime Video‘s Bosch spinoff follows Detective Renée Ballard (Maggie Q) as she leads the LAPD’s new and underfunded cold case division, tackling the city’s most challenging long-forgotten crimes. With the help of her volunteer team and retired detective Harry Bosch (Titus Welliver), Detective Ballard navigates personal trauma, professional challenges, and life-threatening dangers to expose the truth and bring justice to victims that fall through the cracks.
Linklater will play Chris Alexander, an ambitious and magnetic figure whose boyish sincerity and sharp intellect make him instantly compelling. Beneath his charismatic exterior lies a calculating mind and a powerful desire for control, making him a formidable presence this season.
In addition to Maggie Q and Welliver, the cast includes Courtney Taylor, Rebecca Field, Victoria Moroles, Amy Hill and John Carroll Lynch. Previously announced Season 2 cast include Benjamin Bratt, Rosanna Arquette and Ever Carradine.
The second season of Ballard is executive produced by Michael Connelly, Michael Alaimo, Kendall Sherwood, Henrik Bastin, Jasmine Russ, and Trish Hofmann. Theresa Snider serves as co-executive producer for Hieronymus Pictures. Richard Hicks is casting director.
Linklater was most recently seen in the series regular role of Cipher in Season 2 of Prime Video’s Gen V and starring as President Abraham Lincoln in Apple TV’s Manhunt. He’s known for his work on Mike Flanagan’s Netflix miniseries Midnight Mass, and he will next be seen in Flanagan’s new Exorcist movie which Universal releases today. He also recently wrapped production on the Netflix feature The Whisper Man, starring opposite Robert De Niro and Michelle Monaghan. Linklater is repped by Gersh, Untitled Entertainment and Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole.
