5 Disneyland cast members hospitalized due to hazmat incident

ANAHEIM, Calif. (KABC) — Five Disneyland cast members were hospitalized Tuesday due to a hazmat incident in the backstage area of the park.

The Anaheim Police Department responded to a backstage area near the Star Tours attraction at around 12:30 p.m. for an unknown odor.

According to Disneyland officials, building materials used by a contractor produced a reaction backstage. Several cast members were treated on scene by paramedics and released.

Five employees were transported to local hospitals after experiencing dizziness and shortness of breath. Their condition was not immediately known.

No park guests were impacted.

The park said that out of an abundance of caution, nearby areas were cleared but were expected to reopen.

Disney is the parent company of ABC7.
