Disneyland temporarily closed a large part of Tomorrowland on Tuesday after a hazmat incident near Star Tours and Space Mountain caused several employees to feel dizzy and have trouble breathing.
Anaheim Fire and Rescue responded to a call about an “unknown odor” near the backstage area of Star Tours in Tomorrowland shortly before 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Anaheim police Sgt. Matt Sutter said.
Building materials used by a contractor produced a reaction backstage at Disneyland that resulted in seven cast members being transported to local hospitals after experiencing dizziness and shortness of breath, according to Disneyland officials.
Several other Disneyland cast members were treated on-site by paramedics and released, Disneyland officials said. Adjacent onstage areas were cleared of guests, the officials said, out of an abundance of caution.
The Space Mountain indoor roller coaster was evacuated and the Star Traders gift shop was closed around the time of the incident, according to Allie in Wonderland on TikTok. Disneyland cast members blocked the entrances to Space Mountain and Star Traders, Allie in Wonderland said.
No Disneyland visitors reported any symptoms.
Space Mountain, Star Tours and Star Traders reopened by 3 p.m. Tuesday.
