‘Space jellyfish’ seen in Northwest Florida sky following SpaceX Starlink rocket launch

PENSACOLA, Fla. — What was seen in the sky above Northwest Florida Wednesday morning?

The answer: a space jellyfish.

According to SpaceX, around 4:50 a.m. CT, Falcon 9 launched “29 Starlink satellites to low-Earth orbit from Space Launch Complex 40” at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Brevard County, Florida.

SpaceX says this was the 25th flight for the first stage booster supporting this mission.

“Following stage separation, the first stage landed on the A Shortfall of Gravitas droneship, which was stationed in the Atlantic Ocean,” SpaceX says.

WEAR News started receiving photos from viewers in Pensacola around 4:55 a.m. CT about an image seen in the sky.

What they saw was a “space jellyfish,” which is a rocket launch-related phenomenon.
