“Full House” star Jodie Sweetin recently appeared on an episode of the “Only Child With Bob the Drag Queen” podcast (via EW) where she briefly touched upon her political differences with former co-star Candace Cameron Bure. The duo starred as sisters Stephanie and D.J. Tanner on all seven seasons of ABC sitcom and then reprised the characters on the Netflix sequel series “Fuller House.”
When podcast host Bob the Drag Queen noted that “Candace has gone a little bit Dave Chappelle-y too” in recent years, referencing Bure’s conservative and alleged anti-LGBTQ+ beliefs, Sweetin responded: “[She] does her thing and, you know, we sit on very opposite sides of things and I’m just, kind of, a loud outspoken bitch about a lot of things, and that’s not going to stop me. And if that ain’t you, that ain’t you.”

Bure ignited controversy in fall 2022 when she became the chief creative officer of the conservative-leaning Great American Family (GAF) network and The Wall Street Journal that GAF would be keeping “traditional marriage at the core” of its output, meaning it would be highly unlikely for GAF shows and films to include LGBTQ+ couples.
Amid the blowback against Bure, Sweetin told Entertainment Tonight that she is an “outspoken ally for LGBTQ communities” and will remain so, adding: “I’ve always tried to fight for equality and love for everyone. I feel like if you have a voice and you have a platform, it is incumbent on you to be loud and use it.”
Sweetin spoke out the following year when her television movie, “Craft Me a Romance,” was sold to GAF. She expressed disappointment in the decision.
“Sometimes, we, as actors, don’t have control over which network buys the projects we are in, nor are we a part of the process in which they get sold,” Sweetin said in a statement. “So I was very surprised to learn by reading about it in the press yesterday that the independent film I worked on over a year ago was sold to Great American Family. I am disappointed, but in keeping with my mission of supporting the LGBTQ+ family, any potential or future money made from this sale will be donated to LGBTQ+ organizations.”
