A hospital near where Dolly Parton grew up in Tennessee now bears her name. As first reported by TODAY, Knoxville’s East Tennessee Children’s Hospital has been renamed Dolly Parton Children’s Hospital.
“Ever since I’ve been in a position to do my part to help others, I have tried to do just that, especially when children and families need it most,” Parton said in a video message. “I’ve believed that every child deserves a fair chance to grow up healthy, hopeful, and surrounded with love.”
Parton has certainly shown a commitment to medicine over the past several years. After contributing $1 million to fund research for Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine in 2020, she more recently donated another million to pediatric infectious disease research.

As for Parton’s own health, she cleared up rumors last October that arose from the postponement of her Las Vegas residency. The run is now set for The Colosseum at Caesars Palace this September. See the full schedule below, and get tickets here.
