For fans of both Tennessee basketball and reality television, there is a perfect cross over program for you. Former Tennessee basketball player Lew Evans is a contestant on the newest season of ABC’s The Bachelorette.

Evans is one of 22 men competing to win the hand of the bachelorette— Taylor Frankie Paul— this season. Taylor Frankie Paul was previously on the reality television show The Secret Lives Of Mormon Wives before being cast as as lead for season 22 of ABC’s popular dating show.

The 32-year old Evans is a Salt Lake City native, giving him something in common with the woman he is attempting to court.

Evans spent one year on the Tennessee basketball team. He was a power forward on the 2016-17 Vols which was Rick Barnes’ second as the Vols’ head coach.

The 6-foot-8 forward played in 32 games and started four in his lone season at Tennessee, averaging 3.4 points, 2.8 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game. Evans shot 34.5% from the field and 29.5% from three-point range while playing just over 14 minutes per game.

Tennessee went 16-16 (8-10 SEC) in Evans’ lone season in Knoxville. The Vols were on the bubble in the middle of the conference play but lost five of their final seven games of the regular season before going one-and-done in the SEC Tournament.

Evans began his college career at Tulsa, playing a year for the Golden Hurricanes before transferring to Utah State. He spent two years at Utah State but only played one because he had to sit out a year after transferring from Tulsa.

The new season on The Bachelorette begins on Sunday, March 22 on ABC.
