An Illinois Lottery player won a more than $1.1 million prize in Saturday evening’s Lucky Day Lotto drawing after purchasing the ticket at a convenience store in McHenry County.
The ticket was sold at the Chemung Country Store, located at 24102 Route 173 in unincorporated Harvard, which is part of the Mobil gas station.
Illinois Lottery officials say “excitement is building” in the small town after the ticket scored a $1.15 million prize in the Lucky Day Lotto Saturday evening drawing.
The ticket matched all five numbers drawn — 2, 15, 28, 31, 43.
Chemung Country Store Co-Owner Mark Smith said his store has been a staple of the community for over 38 years.
“Our customer base is largely made up of loyal, local customers, so we’re all hoping the winner is one of our regulars,” Smith said.

Chemung Country Store will receive a $11,500 bonus, which is 1% of the prize amount, for selling the winning ticket.
“Over the years, we’ve celebrated quite a few winners, but this is one of our biggest,” Smith said.
Smith said that much of the funds will be reinvested in the business.
“We’ll put most of it back into operations and improvements, but we also plan to reward our staff in recognition of their dedication and excellent customer service,” Smith said.
Nearly 74,000 winning tickets were sold in Saturday evening’s Lucky Day Lotto drawing, awarding more than $1.3 million in total prizes to players across Illinois.
Winners have one year from the date of the winning draw to claim their prize.
The Illinois Lottery said it encourages winners to write their name on the back of their ticket and keep it in a safe place until they are ready to claim their prize.
Lucky Day Lotto is an Illinois-only draw game with two daily drawings at 12:40 p.m. and 9:22 p.m. with jackpots starting at $100,000.
